San Francisco maker of OG-1, a robot that finishes drywall on live job sites; $20M raised

Startup · Pilot · Robotics leader · San Francisco, California, United States · Founded 2025 · origin.tech

Profile

Origin builds general-purpose robots for interior construction. Its OG-1 robot applies joint compound, sands and primes walls to a finished surface, including corners, pillars and high walls, and works alongside crews without a cordoned-off area. The company says its first robots were on New York job sites within 10 months of its founding and are now used in commercial buildings, apartments, data centers, hotels and warehouses. It is preparing pilots with two of the largest US drywall-finishing contractors, which it has not named, and in Germany, Sweden, France and Saudi Arabia, and targets 150 deployed robots by the end of 2027, adding trades such as taping, drywall installation and drilling. CEO Yogesh Ghaturle previously founded Perpule, which Amazon acquired in 2021. Origin came out of stealth on Oct 15, 2026 with $20M in total funding co-led by Accel and Zacua Ventures.

Notes Founded in early 2025, according to the company, so slightly past the 18-month age guide. Zacua Ventures' Vivin Hegde has joined the board.
