Dyna Robotics

Robot foundation-model maker whose DYNA-1 robots work shifts in hotels, laundromats and gyms; $143.5M raised

Startup · Shipping · Robot foundation model · Redwood City, California, United States · Founded 2024 · dyna.co

Profile

Dyna Robotics builds general-purpose robots run by its own embodied-AI foundation model, DYNA-1, which it says learns and improves from each customer deployment. Within its first year its robots were working up to sixteen hours a day in hotels, restaurants, laundromats and gyms, doing tasks such as folding laundry. Co-founders Lindon Gao and York Yang previously built Caper AI, the smart-cart company sold for $350M in 2021; co-founder Jason Ma is a former DeepMind research scientist. After a $23.5M seed in March 2025, it raised a $120M Series A in September 2025 led by RoboStrategy, CRV and First Round Capital, with NVIDIA, Amazon, Samsung and LG investment arms.

Notes On Aug 27, 2026 it filed a US trademark application for PHYSICAL AGENT (serial 50076393) covering humanoid robots, including ones that take customer orders and serve; this is a filing only, not a confirmed product. Trackers estimate a valuation of about $600M after the Series A.

“Dyna-2: General Purpose Physical Agents with Hour-Long Autonomy”

Jason Ma, Co-founder & Chief Scientist

    Summary (From the transcript)

Ma said Din Tai Fung is Dyna's biggest scaled customer: its robots fold thousands of napkins a day across several US locations, and the chain has signed a much bigger contract and wants the robots to cut food next. He said Dyna has deployed tens of robots and aims for hundreds next year, and that Best Western uses its robots to fold towels. He described Dyna-2, a world-action model pre-trained on more than a million hours of human video, and a wheeled semi-humanoid for which Dyna is building its own actuators.

What Jason said (the speaker’s own claims, not our findings)

    • Din Tai Fung is Dyna's biggest scaled customer; robots fold thousands of napkins per day across many US Din Tai Fung locations (Ma's claim).
    • Din Tai Fung signed a much bigger contract and wants robots to cut food next (Ma's claim; contract size not disclosed).
    • Dyna has deployed tens of robots; the goal for next year is hundreds (Ma's claim).
    • Best Western is a customer; robots fold towels (Ma's claim).
    • Dyna-2 was trained on more than one million hours of human data; a new task takes a couple of hours, and for some tasks tens of minutes, of robot data (Ma's claim; the host cited 45 minutes for a chopping task).
    • Dyna is building its own actuators; the robot is a wheeled semi-humanoid with four waist degrees of freedom and about 100 action dimensions (Ma's claim).
    • The laundry workflow demo runs a full loop of about an hour (Ma's claim).
    • About 30-40% of staff work on hardware and around ten people on models; hiring is Bay Area only for now (Ma's claim).
