Force/torque sensors
Six-axis load cells at wrists and ankles (and torque sensors in joints) for balance and safe contact.
Data updated
Why it matters
Six-axis force/torque sensors measure forces and moments at wrists (for manipulation) and ankles/feet (for balance and ground contact). Joint torque sensors enable compliant, collaborative control.
Why it is a bottleneck. Accurate, drift-free six-axis sensors are expensive and few companies make them at scale. Chinese makers (Kunwei, Keli) are scaling to cut costs, and safety certification of humanoids depends on reliable force sensing.
