Profile
Vingroup set up VinMotion in Hanoi in January 2025 with charter capital of VND 1,000B (about $39M), 51% held by Vingroup. Chairman Nguyen Trung Quan was a robotics professor at the University of Southern California before he joined in early 2025, and he says the team built five humanoid versions in under seven months. VinMotion showed Motion 2 and the smaller MiniMotion in Hanoi in September 2026. It says over 90% of the robots is made in Vietnam and that it buys in only parts such as cameras and cables (company-stated). The robots are used inside Vingroup for now; reception and security patrol are the planned commercial uses. Vingroup says production of its first robot generation starts at low volume in late 2026 or early 2027.
Notes Charter capital is registered capital, not a funding round; no outside funding is disclosed. 'Over 90% made in Vietnam' is company-stated and was not checked. The chairman's background is single source (CafeF).
